Finding Rhythm When Life Won't Slow Down
If you’re anything like me, your calendar is color-coded, your inbox never truly reaches zero, and your to-do list somehow grows while you’re actively checking things off.
As communications professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders, mothers, mentors, and community builders, we’re constantly managing competing priorities. Add in a commitment to faith, fitness, and personal growth, and it’s easy to feel like you’re failing at balance before the day even begins.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about the word balance.
Truthfully? I’m not sure balance exists the way we’ve been taught to believe it does.
I think what we’re really seeking is rhythm.
There are seasons when work requires more of us. Seasons when family needs us. Seasons when our bodies need rest. Seasons when God is calling us to slow down and listen.
The challenge isn’t balancing everything perfectly. The challenge is recognizing what deserves our attention in the current season without feeling guilty about what can wait.
💻 PR Chic Tip: Create a “Big Three” List
This tip has been my saving grace daily. Daily in my planner, I have a slot that support by Big Three list and then an active To do list.
By seperating my Big three from my overall to do list, this allows me to focus on identify three things that will move your work, health, or personal life forward the most vs. being overwhelmed with what I call… “All The Things”.
My daily Big Three often consist of:
One professional priority (from my 9-5)
One professional/personal brand priority (T.Marie Media Group/T.Marie Focusesd)
One personal or spiritual priority (This can range from a personal goal, fitness/wellness goal or faith-focused goal)
When those three things get done, the day feels productive even if everything else doesn’t.
Progress creates peace.
💡PR Chic Activation:
Now that we have accessed our calendars and prioritized our goals, let’s put it into action.
This month, take time to audit your calendar.
Set aside at least 10 minutes a day and categorize every recurring commitment into one of these buckets:
Purpose
Priority
Pressure
Three things to remember:
Purpose activities align with your calling.
Priority activities support your goals.
Pressure activities are things you’re doing because you feel obligated.
Now, let’s have a reflective moment. Ask yourself:
What can I delegate?
What can I postpone?
What no longer serves this season?
Give yourself permission to make adjustments.
As communications professionals, mothers, leaders and a person who wears a lot of hats, remember that not every opportunity deserves a yes.
𓂃🖊 My Confession
Let’s keep it 💯. When life gets busy, something unfortunately sacrifices. The one thing the first thing I tend to sacrifice is the very thing that keeps me grounded.
Here is my confession:
I show up as my best self when I stay connected to what grounds me. By prioritizing time with God, caring for my body, and embracing rest, I'm learning that a full life doesn't have to come at the expense of a fulfilled one.
Stewardship isn’t selfish. Rest isn’t laziness. It’s a priority.
✝️📖🙏 Scripture for the Week
Matthew 6:33 (CSB) - “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”
As a PR professional, order matters. When we put God first, our perspective becomes clearer. Everything else is put in its proper place.
Forget chasing balance. Focus on finding your rhythm.
One prayer.
One workout.
One priority.
One day at a time.
Until next time,
TaQuinda Marie
